New Braunfels is located just Northeast of San Antonio right up Highway 35 passed Schertz and Cibolo. Within the city limits is the Gruene Historic District which is where you will find the famous Gruene Hall to dance at after you eat nearby. It’s a beautiful and well maintained little area that is a favorite of most to visit.
The town is split between 2 counties, so it also has 2 school districts Comal ISD and New Braunfels ISD. Be sure to investigate which side you live on or are going to live in.
They might as well call this town “the city of water recreation”. Not only does it have both the Comal River and Guadalupe River to float on, it also has the original Schlitterbahn Water Park. There is so much to do in this town it’s hard to list it all. Some other top contenders nearby are the Natural Bridge Caverns to explore underground and the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch that you actually stay in your car to drive through. After all that go see a double feature at the Stars and Stripes Drive In.
Go ahead and try the German food with maybe a cold beer because there are plenty of places to try it. You will see the German influences around town in not only the food but the architecture.
